Arthur Low, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Art was born in Sacramento, CA and graduated from Sacramento City College, U. C. Davis, and U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry in 1975. He also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1970-1976 and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. Since graduation, Art has practiced in Campbell and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 1979. He was also president of the Santa Clara County Optometric Society from 1988 to 1990. Then in 1997, the California Optometric Association named him Optometrist of the Year. He is the senior partner of Campbell Optometric Group, which was the Campbell Chamber Business of the Year in 2006. He still serves on two optometric related boards.
In the community, Art has been very active, having been president of the Chamber of Commerce in 1999-2000 and again in 2008. He is also a two time past president of the West San Jose- Campbell Lions Club. It is with the Lions In Sight that Art has made annual trips to serve the eyecare needs of the disadvantaged in Mexico for many years. Closer to home, he serve one year as president of the Chinese Historical and Cultural Project, which raised funds to build a museum exhibiting artifacts of Chinese immigration since the goldrush and then donated the building to History San Jose. For his years of community service, Art was honored as Citizen of the Year in Campbell in 1994.
For recreation, Art enjoys bowling, fishing, and golf. He is married to Swan and has two sons, Ryan who is an Oakland police officer and Evan who was Campbell mayor in 2010. He is also stepdad to Michelle and stepgrandad to Shaylana.
